Orchard Farm School District is seeking a District-Wide Floating Special Education Teacher to join our team! Our mission is to empower each learner to excel in diverse communities.
The Floating Special Education Teacher is a flexible, district-level support position designed to provide daily and long-term instructional coverage for special education staff. This includes serving as a long-term substitute for maternity leaves and stepping in daily to assist with SPED teacher or paraprofessional absences across the district's five (5) K-12 buildings.
This is a traveling position that requires strong adaptability, collaboration, and a willingness to support a variety of students, grade levels, and program types.

- Full-Time Special Education Teacher with Sped certification (preferred but will consider any K-12 certification)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree or higher
- Appropriate Missouri Teaching Certificate
- Knowledge of state standards, federal and state regulations and law
- Knowledge of subject matter content and assessment strategies
- Knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction
- Ability to relate to students, staff, and parents in a positive manner
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
- Ability to follow written and oral communication
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to adjust daily throughout all K-12 buildings
- Ability to travel between all district campuses
Key Responsibilities
- Provide long-term insstructional coverage suring special education teacher maternity leaves (anticipated to be the rimary focus of the year)
- Serves as a daily substitute of SPED teachers when not assigned to a long-term leave, may seldom fill for paras in need
- Deliver instruction aligned to IEP goals and classroom objectives
- Collaborate with building teams to ensure consistency of services
- Maintain documentation and support positive student behavior
- Support safe, inclusive learning environments across multiple buildings
- Travel to any district campus as needed (mileage reimbursement provided)
An individual who holds this position is required to:
- Delivering group and/or individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines as assigned by classroom teacher or building administrator.
- Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Models conversation, manners, cleanup activities, listening skills, etc. for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
- Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
