Alberta Health Services (AHS), Department of Child Health, is inviting applicants to apply for Pediatric Hospital positions.
Responsibilities:
Total 24 weeks of coverage on the Pediatric Hospital Medicine services, including Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) and non-teaching services.
This can be divided among 4-6 positions with a minimum commitment of 4 weeks during the 6-month period.
Clinical duties include serving as MRP for all patients on assigned service for 7-day blocks (including weekends) and up to 18 overnight call per the 6-month period.
Daily rounds on all patients on assigned service
Consultations and admissions from the Emergency Department
Accepting patients in transfer from Intensive Care units
Consultations on patients admitted under surgical or subspecialty services on request
Regular and as-needed communication with patients and parents/guardians
Clinical management including diagnosis and treatment for pediatric inpatients with a wide range of conditions including those with significant medical complexity and technology dependence
Ensuring appropriate documentation Connect Care in adherence with Medical Staff Bylaws
Collaboration with a range of multidisciplinary care providers
Comprehensive discharge planning including timely communication with community providers
Other duties include:
Supervision of medical learners (residents and medical students), including provision of feedback and completion of evaluation forms (on CTU services)
Participation in business meetings and other activities of the Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine
Active engagement in Quality Improvement initiatives related to the clinical activities of the Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
