Our Isaac Plains Complex is a metallurgical coal mine owned and operated by Stanmore and located 20km's outside of Moranbah.
About the Role
We are looking for experienced Open Cut Examiners (OCEs) to join our team at the Isaac Plains Complex. To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate strong technical expertise and hands-on experience operating equipment in a coal mining environment, including:
- Draglines, Dozers, Graders, Loaders, Water Trucks, Haul Trucks, and Excavators;
- A strong commitment to safety and proactive risk management;
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team;
- A track record of consistently achieving production targets;
- A practical and solutions-oriented approach to compliance and teamwork;
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving work conditions and mining techniques; and
- Sound knowledge of site safety procedures and relevant legislation.

Job Description:As an Open Cut Examiner (OCE) at the Isaac Plains Complex, you will play a key role in ensuring safe mining practices and regulatory compliance across site operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough safety inspections of open-cut mining areas, including pre-shift checks;
- Performing detailed risk assessments and identifying operational hazards;
- Collaborating with teams to implement effective control measures and safety solutions;
- Monitoring compliance with the Site Health and Management System (SHMS);
- Preparing detailed inspection reports and compliance documentation;
- Leading emergency response actions when required;
- Partnering with supervisors and management to drive continuous improvement in safety practices;
- Reviewing and updating procedures and protocols;
- Fostering strong working relationships across teams and leadership;
- Mentoring team members on safety standards and best practices; and
- Actively participating in daily pre-start meetings and site safety initiatives.
- Current Open Cut Examiner (OCE) certification
- >2 years of experience in an Open Cut Examiner role is desirable
- RIIRIS301E (Apply risk management processes)
- RIIWHS301E (Conduct safety and health investigations)
- RIICOM301E (Communicate information)
- RIIRIS402D (Carry out the risk management process)
- Proficient in technical report writing and documentation
- Proven experience in identifying and managing mining related risks
- Experience in emergency response management
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Valid Queensland Driver's License
