Job Title: Cook
Location: 3935 Sunnyside Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 Healthcare & Assisted Living
Hours: Part-time, 10 am-6:30 pm.
Primary Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the Cook is to prepare a variety of high-quality foods, follow recipes, adhere to timelines for meals, and maintain all sanitation codes.

Qualifications:
- Prior cooking experience in a restaurant/dining field is preferred.
- Serve Safe Certification or the ability to obtain.
- Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions, and take appropriate action based upon the information available.
- Ability to read and interpret recipes, double/triple for quantity needed.
- Time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
- Multi-tasking skills; ability to handle prep work, various timelines, recipes, delivery schedules, etc.
- Strong verbal communication skills; ability to speak with appropriate grammar.
- Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals.
Requirements
- Read and review instructions and information on break-down sheets, labels and diet information cards; including food preparation requirements, portion sizes and resident preferences, allergies, etc. in order to properly serve residents.
- Prepare food or ensured that food that has been prepared is ready to serve at resident meal times and served at the proper temperature and as requested by the resident.
- Prepare and deliver meals to the Healthcare and Assisted Living residents.
- Keep all food preparation and service areas clean and sanitized.
- Work at special functions as assigned.
- Demonstrate dependability, reliability and punctuality. Report to work when schedule, ready to work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical & Environmental Considerations
- This job operates indoors in a general kitchen and dining room environment with varying floor surfaces.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- The employee is frequently required to routinely sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 30 lbs or less and occasionally more than 40 lbs. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
- General hazards related to operation of kitchen equipment as well as exposure to sanitizing and cleaning chemicals and wet floor surfaces which require slip-resistant shoes. Minimal hazards if universal precautions are followed.
