About the Department
Assists with supply acquisition, receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory for all supplies, tools, and materials for the designated department. Responsible for the work order process
Position Duties
• Coordinates all aspects of the department’s work order process to include creating and maintaining documentation for cost and work accountability. • Communicates with the department’s staff to ensure work order process is achieving desired accountability. • Operates forklifts and front-end loaders in assisting in maintenance of materials and supply inventories. • Covers as needed for absent employees. • Assists with all necessary paper and computer documentation and requisitions for supply, tools, materials purchases, receipt, inventory, distribution, and disposal. • Assists with regulatory compliance for hazardous material storage to include spill prevention and clean-up procedures for supply building and yard. • Assists with compliance with safety requirements to include maintaining Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information. • Orders materials for all maintenance, repair, and construction; both routine and emergency. • Assists with key control and security system to protect vehicles and inventory. • Continually monitors the budget costs and expenditures. • Assists with disaster recovery and reporting to regulatory agencies such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). • Assists with maintaining security and inventory of material and supplies required for current tasks. Assists with periodic physical inventory. • Assists in answering Supply Section telephones and responds to staff requests. • Assists with general upkeep and maintenance of supply building and yard. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience: High school diploma or GED; six months’ experience in customer service, administration or supply/inventory related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires a valid driver license. May require a certification to supervise inmates by the State Department of Corrections within one year of hire.

Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to operate office equipment, to include, computers, copy/fax machines, and related peripherals. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. May require some walking, standing, bending, twisting and stooping. Physical demands are essentially those of sedentary work. Language Ability: Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, record and exchange information; requires the ability to explain procedures and to give, receive and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to read and interpret a variety of moderately complex technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, professional journals. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical and/or professional languages used within the parameters of the job and with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds. Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagrammatic form; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide; calculate decimals and percentages; compute discount, profit and loss, ratio and proportion. Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, or public contact. Requires the ability to exercise consistent tact and courtesy when in frequent contact with various professionals, county staff, and the general public.
