Major Activities
Manage the planning and routing of vendor inbound merchandise and outbound store deliveries by Region:
- Manage compliance of actual delivery activity to planned routes by compiling data and reporting KPI’s.
- Manage maintenance of Dedicated Contract Carriage utilization and OT service standards.
Assist with documentation and standardization of best business practices to ensure consistency across network:
- Routing metrics and process for daily planning.
- Load dispatch process and monitoring.
Partner in development, implementation and management of special projects:
- Yard System Management and reporting.
- Carrier trailer pool communication.
- Inbound/Outbound forecasts for capacity.
- 3PL operations.
- JDA/I2 enhancements and reporting.
- Late delivery communication by DC.
- Crossdock analytics.
- Other FFG/lean projects.
Transportation Support:
- Support other Transportation Managers as needed with volume demands, vacation coverage and other special projects.
- Assist with data analysis for Network Lane Sharing Event with carrier partners.
- Participate in weekly/monthly carrier partner meetings as appropriate.
o Provides visibility and forecasts to common carrier partners to insure service performance and supply chain.
- Contribute to development of annual budget preparation.
- Partner with Supply Chain teammates to help drive efficiencies and support the Michaels network.
Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Access databases
Minimum Type of experience the job requires
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain
- Experience with logistics and transportation management systems (transportation routing software programs)
- Financial accounting concepts, including expense allocation and pricing (fixed/variable)
- Project management
Minimum Travel required
- Required travel 20% of time
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management or related Logistics field
