What’s the role?
As Associate Director, you will be responsible for leading and promoting a superior client experience within Investor Services by providing a multi-jurisdictional service for the institutional business coving the onboarding of clients and investors, ongoing monitoring (Periodic Reviews) while ensuring full compliance with regulatory obligations.
You will oversee AML/KYC processes, Investor Relation tasks, and data management standards, working closely with clients, investors, and internal teams to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions.
What you’ll be doing
Operational - AML/KYC
- Oversee and manage the end-to-end Client and Investor Onboarding process for institutional business with multi-jurisdictional visibility.
- Be a point of contact (SME) for any CDD/EDD queries/requirements, ensuring the team have completeness and accuracy of all AML/KYC records.
- Oversee the controls around approval for institutional clients and investors, including PEPs, SOE/SWF and high-risk classifications.
- Responsible for the training and awareness of our regulatory obligation around KYC - profiles (source of wealth and source of funds ect..), ensuring appropriate evidence and documentation.
- Oversee ongoing screening and monitoring of clients and investors, being a point of contact for escalating and resolving any complex/material hits.
- Lead ongoing AML/CDD monitoring, including periodic reviews, event-driven reviews, and transaction monitoring to ensure risks are identified and addressed promptly.
- Ensure appropriate updates and refreshes of AML/KYC documentation are carried out in line with regulatory requirements.
- Lead 'Trigger event' reviews and ensure all CDD and risk assessments are updated in line with regulatory standards.
- Act as an escalation point for AML/KYC-related issues, liaising with Compliance and senior stakeholders.
Investor Relations
- Provide oversight of investor reporting/notices and fund administration deliverables, ensuring service levels are met
- Support client relationship teams by ensuring operational processes align with investor requirements and manage portal access for the business and clients
- Collaborate with fund accounting, compliance, and operations teams to streamline workflows and improve client service delivery
- Oversee subscription document reviews for the key Gen II clients
- Ensure client and investor static data is captured, validated, and maintained to the highest accuracy standards
- Oversee data governance initiatives to ensure compliance with GDPR and data privacy requirements
- Drive improvements in data integrity, reporting accuracy, and system enhancements to support operational efficiency
- Produce regular MI reporting on onboarding, periodic reviews, and data quality metrics for senior management
Leadership and Oversight
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to investor services teams.
- Allocate resources, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure operational deadlines are achieved.
- Partner with Compliance to review and approve escalated matters and high-risk client cases.
- Represent Investor Services in internal and external meetings, driving continuous improvement in processes.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, transformation projects, and automation to enhance service delivery.
The ideal background for this role:
- Relevant recognised qualification, ideally within ICA or AML.
- 10+ years’ experience in AML/KYC within the fund administration, private equity, or real estate sector.
- Demonstrable experience managing fund administration and client onboarding processes in a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of current industry AML/CFT legislation, regulation, and best practice.
- Solid understanding of fund structures, investor reporting, and data governance.
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Role Location / Hybrid Schedule
This role is based in our Southampton office. While the nature of most roles within Gen II cannot be classed as totally flexible, there is scope for Agile Working depending on business needs, office space availability, and individual preferences.
