The Opportunity

Vanguard Resources, Inc. (VRI) - a facilities management company in business for nearly 30 years, (still family owned & operated), is actively recruiting for a highly-motivated and detail-oriented, Healthcare Facilities Life Safety Specialist (LSS) to join our facilities maintenance team within a hospital setting. In this essential role, the LSS will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our hospital environment for patients, visitors, and staff by inspecting, testing, and maintaining all life safety and fire protection systems.  This is a full-time opportunity with competitive pay, benefits, with room to grow!  


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections, testing, and maintenance of all life safety and fire protection systems, including fire alarms, fire suppression systems, emergency generators, and sprinkler systems.
  • Troubleshoot and correct issues on the fire alarm panel, performing or coordinating repairs as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well asThe Joint Commission standards and other governing agencies.
  • Develop, implement, and manage hospital safety programs, including the hot works and fire stopping programs.
  • Conduct and document fire drills throughout the campus.
  • Work with vendors to complete necessary repairs and inspections.
  • Provide training and technical support to hospital staff on life safety and emergency preparedness protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, testing, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in event walk-throughs to ensure life safety compliance.
  • Assist in the development and  updating of emergency preparedness plans.

Requirements

 Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • 1 to 5 years’ experience in a Facilities Maintenance environment. Must be proficient in a least one skilled trade
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations and codes, including NFPA and OSHA standards. Experience with specific fire system brands (e.g., JCI) is a plus.
  • Professional certifications pertinent to life safety, such as NICET, CFPS, or other equivalent safety credentials, is a plus.
  • Have ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in crawlspaces, hot/cold conditions
  • OSHA 10 certification - not required, but nice to have
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.  
  • Ability to read and hear to interpret documents and announcements such as safety rules and alerts, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Comfortable working with computer/technology
  • Must successfully pass criminal background check.
  • Must successfully clear a 10-panel pre-employment drug screen. 
  • Must agree to & receive required health screenings and vaccines.
  • Must have a valid/unexpired state-issued drivers license; in good standing with a clean driving      record; along with reliable transportation to get to and from work
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and  communication skills to interact with various levels of personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Possess a great attitude, eager to learn, and be dependable
