The Finance Department is seeking an Accountant whose main role is to perform accounting work involving the design, maintenance, preparation, and analysis of complex financial records. The class works independently reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study. Requires good knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of governmental accounting procedures.
• A minimum of one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in accounting, governmental accounting, or closely related experience.
• Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements

• Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
• May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.
• The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
