Type: Full-Time
Shift: Day Shift – Hybrid position with home office located in Tigard, OR 
Wage: $100-$110K, Depending on experience

Benefits: Employee Medical Benefits starting at $17.50 per pay period for Regence or Kaiser for full-time employees.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about building strong teams, fostering a culture of growth, and driving innovative talent strategies to support the mission of serving seniors. This individual will be skilled in talent acquisition, workforce development, employee engagement, and retention strategies within the senior living industry. The Director of Talent will work closely with leaders across the organization to ensure communities are staffed with compassionate, skilled, and mission-driven employees. This is a hands-on, working Director of Talent role, actively sourcing and recruiting for high-level positions including RNs, Executive Directors, and key home office roles.

Arete Living is primarily present in Oregon and Washington, with potential occasional travel to other states when necessary. The majority of your time will be spent supporting communities and regional leaders, with occasional office days at our Tigard, OR home office or designated meeting locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the talent acquisition strategy to ensure communities are staffed with qualified and dedicated team members.
  • Partner with community and regional leaders to understand staffing needs, succession planning, and workforce priorities.
  • Create and manage talent pipelines for key leadership and hard-to-fill roles including Nursing, Executive Directors, and Home Office Positions.
  • Coach and mentor leaders on effective recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding practices.
  • Develop and implement employee retention strategies that strengthen engagement and reduce turnover.
  • Set a cultural example of teamwork, trust, integrity, communication, and innovation.
  • Conduct site visits to assess workforce culture, identify staffing challenges, and implement solutions.
  • Partner with HR and operations leaders on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strategies.
  • Monitor talent metrics and provide regular reports on hiring trends, turnover, and workforce planning.
  • Support communities during periods of high turnover or leadership vacancies by providing interim leadership in talent functions when needed.
  • Stay current on industry best practices, labor market trends, and compliance with employment laws.
  • Represent Arete Living at career fairs, networking events, and community outreach efforts.
  • Attend and participate in various corporate meetings in-person including Monthly Leadership Meeting, Annual Strategic Planning Meeting, and others.
  • Execute effective local, regional and national sourcing strategies to assure the generation of a diverse pool of qualified prospects and candidates to provide a qualified applicant flow to fill open positions. 
  • Manage monthly and yearly Talent Acquisition budget goals. Prepare yearly budget and review and approve invoices. 
  • Hire, train and develop recruitment department employees through coaching and creating an environment of high morale, motivation and teamwork. 
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; advanced degree or HR certification (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, workforce development, or HR leadership, preferably in healthcare or senior living.
  • Proven success in recruiting, retention, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS platforms, and other recruiting tools including AI sourcing, and Salesmail.
  • Ability to travel regionally as needed.
  • Passion for senior living and commitment to building strong, compassionate teams.
