Responsibilities:
  • Install and test fiber optic cable and infrastructure for telephone systems and switches
  • Conduct quality control inspections on newly installed fiber and surveillance equipment.
  • Ensure all fiber runs and conduit splices are completed according to industry-standard
  • Perform both insideplant (ISP) and outsideplant (OSP) fiber infrastructure work, including aerial, underground, and buildingentry fiber runs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and asbuilt diagrams / maps / drawings of fiber network and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Assist with or lead quality control/QA inspections, ensuring fiber and network components meet industry and safety standards.
  • Test fiber links using OTDR, power meter, light source, and other diagnostic tools; analyze and document test results and trace curves.
  • Perform site surveys, routing assessments, and logistical planning (including permitting, utility coordination, material staging) for new fiber installation.
  • Travel to offices in Texas with network team

Skills/Experience

Experience with telephone switches and networking infrastructure

8

Demonstrated experience with fiber installation and techniques

8

In-depth knowledge of IDS/NDS (Inside Plant/Outside Plant) standards

8

Ability to interpret schematics, fiber layout diagrams, and technical documentation for fiber installations

8

Skilled in quality control/QA inspections, ensuring compliance with splice loss budgets, signal integrity, and safety standards

8

Familiarity with working under or adjoining other utilities, coordination for pole attachments or conduit rights‑of‑way, permitting, and regulatory compliance

8

Strong troubleshooting skills: diagnosing fiber issues, connectivity problems, signal loss, attenuation, interference, etc

 

Fiber Optics certification (FOA CFOT, BICSI OSP/ISP)
