The Maintenance Specialist at the BASF Bishop site plays a critical role in supporting the reliability and efficiency of plant operations. This position is responsible for executing and improving maintenance processes, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The role requires strong technical knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic chemical manufacturing environment.
As a Maintenance Specialist, you create chemistry by...
- Supporting the Maintenance Manager in cost control, planning, resource allocation, and collaborating with engineering, operations, and procurement to ensure timely availability of materials and services.
- Using SAP for managing work orders, tracking maintenance history, generating reports, setting up new employees, providing training (new and refresher), and maintaining Preventive Maintenance (PM) data including functional locations, job plans, and BOMs.
- Creating, revising, deleting, and monitoring PMs routinely; generating and reviewing future PM schedules to support turnaround (TAR) planning; calling PMs early as needed and aligning with Gate Keeper/Scheduler and OMC.
- Managing maintenance framework purchase orders (POs), performing service entries/web cycles for all maintenance requisitions and framework PO’s, and providing monthly accruals to the cost controller.
- Monitoring external inspections (piping and equipment), updating monthly inspection sheets, correcting work orders and maintenance plans, ensuring TECO completion, and resetting PSV inspections to match actual inspection dates.
- Reviewing inspection forms and interval trackers with reliability engineers to adjust PMs and due dates accordingly.
- Assisting in developing and implementing maintenance procedures and training materials, participating in Management of Change (MOC) processes, maintaining compliance with BASF standards, and providing backup for gate keeper/scheduler and planners.
If you...
- Hold a high school diploma or GED (Technical certifications or associate degree are preferred).
- Bring minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance within a chemical or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Have proficiency in SAP plant maintenance module.
- Possess strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Have excellent communication and problem-solving skills while being able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferably have experience with maintenance cost tracking and reporting; and being familiar with P&ID's and equipment specifications.
