Across our 60+ locations, we provide programs in a variety of service areas, including workforce development, children, youth, families, seniors and homeless prevention.
The River Park Towers Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) is seeking a Program Specialist with at least 2 years of working in the social service field. Applicants that have experience working with the senior population are preferred. Duties consist of data entry, scheduling and conducting activities, going on group trips, preparing a monthly report to the director. Workdays are from Monday through Friday- 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct services to clients, including intake, engagement, assessment, referral, service plan development, advocacy, counseling, exit summaries and follow-up.
- Monitor and document client progress toward service plan goals.
- Conduct home visits and other field work, as required.
- Document all interactions with, or on behalf of, clients.
- Provide general clerical support, including filing, faxing, word processing, typing, photocopying and sorting mail.
- Answer telephones.
- Report to, and meet with, supervisor on a monthly basis.
- Complete program reports on a monthly basis or more frequently as required.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct membership registrations and follow-up.
- Light Case Assistance.
- Create Monthly Calendar of Activities.
- Create Educational and Recreational activities for senior participants.
- Organize local and out of state trips.
- Organize and partake in cultural awareness and celebrations.
- Conduct vertual learning activities (e.g. technology, Health & Wellness, etc.).
- Conduct Outreach Wellnbess calls to registered members.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast pace environment.
- Perform Additional Duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree in a related field of study. Bachelors Degree preferred.
- A minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile and copier equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
