TITLE: Community Fundraising Intern

LOCATION: Washington DC Based (Hybrid)

POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Non-Exempt 

TIMEFRAME/HOURS PER WEEK: Fall 2025 Internship (end date Dec 31, 2025) / 20 hours per week

REPORTS TO: Community Fundraising Operations Manager

COMPENSATION: $18 per hour pay rate.

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national nonprofit organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients, families, survivors, and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options, connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Community Fundraising Intern will support the Community Fundraising Operations Manager with administrative tasks related to logistics and operations for the national Walk to End Colon Cancer portfolio. This role will also serve as the first line of communication for walk participants—including fundraisers, team captains, and volunteers—by:

  • Responding to inquiries via phone and the general Walk email inbox
  • Assisting with Classy campaign website requests and troubleshooting
  • Providing timely and helpful responses to fundraiser, volunteer, and team captain questions
  • Supporting overall event logistics and operations as assigned
     

This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event operations, participant engagement, and nonprofit fundraising support, while contributing to the mission of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for walk participants, team captains, and volunteers
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries from the walk email inbox and participant phone line
  • Assist with creating, editing, and troubleshooting Classy fundraising campaign pages
  • Support logistics for the Walk to End Colon Cancer portfolio, including vendor tracking, supply management, and event preparation
  • Complete and submit check requests to ensure timely payment of all walk vendors
  • Update internal documents and tracking sheets to ensure accurate and timely information sharing
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteer leadership to provide excellent support to walk participants
  • Attend in-person meetings with the Community Fundraising Operations Manager as required
  • Assist with additional administrative projects as needed
