POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for repairs/work orders in addition to concrete in the following areas: Coker and related units, Crude and related units, Tank farm, vacuum unit, water waste, water treaters, FCC unit, alkylation unit, reformer and various hydro processing units. As well as, framing, door repair, metal work, remodeling, and board gauge. 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
• The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Certification Preferred; however, training is provided by CVR

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 4 Years’ experience of refinery work preferred
• Fluent in English, oral and written required
• Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
• Critical Thinking Skills: must have the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Regularly communicate with supervisor/planners/engineers on work progress, concerns and questions
• Construct vertical & horizontal form work/slab on grade – placing and finishing concrete
• Use blueprints to determine locations, positions, dimensions of parts / anchor bolt layout and elevations
• May assist - test and inspect exchanger systems for leaks or defects
• Clean equipment using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents
• Replace or repair broken valves, pipes, or joints, using hand and power tools, plumbing, pex, copper, and PVC
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on piping systems
• May help erect and repair air pollution equipment, cooling towers & waste water equipment/maintenance
• Bolting/nailing of wood & metal structures and equipment.
• Maneuver into vessels through manways and work in confined spaces with and without fresh air
• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits
• Lay out, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly; using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
• Recognize, set-up, and operate hand and power tools common to the construction trade
• Framing with wood and metal studs along installing and removing metal, windows, doors, cabinets and shelves
• Clamp, cold & heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions
• Erect and dismantle scaffold with knowledge of OSHA standards and the ability to design as needed
• Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained
• Troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate equipment to perform a job
• Positions and moves wood & metal of various weight and dimensions that are part of the work process
• Rebar tying, splicing, figuring layout
• Build crates for pumps/piping/motors and pop valves
• Ability to work on high elevations on platforms and in manlifts
• Operates vehicles to perform job duties
• May assist - Install blinds and open man ways
• May assist - Blind and de-blinding of exchangers and towers
• May assist - Breakdown and put back together exchangers               
• Grout pump bases using epoxy grout with the ability to figure grout to the square inch
• Rigging/set up and flagging of cranes and pickers

• Must Pass competent scaffold builder test
