The mission of Gunnison Valley Health is to effectively organize and provide quality healthcare services that improve the health of our community. We are a 24 bed rural hospital seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team seasonally from November - April. An RN is responsible for rendering professional nursing care pursuant to the goals, objectives, and policies of Gunnison Valley Health, following the standards of practice for their respective specialty. To manage quality care through the nursing profession of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Position Qualifications:

  • Education: 
    • Required: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. 
    • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Experience: 
    • RN I- New Grad or No Acute Care Experience within 2 years. 
    • RN II- Acute Care Experience within the last two years. Training and experience in area assigned.
  • Licenses/Certification: 
    • Required: Current Colorado Registered Nurse License (or compact state RN license), BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP.

Seasonal Schedule Requirements

  • Average of 36 hours each week - 12 hour shifts 
  • No call time required
  • The seasonal RN commits to limited PTO usage during working months, with non-seasonal nursing positions having priority for PTO approval. 

Compensation: $33.00/hour - $43.80/hour, depending on experience.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process in collecting data and performing nursing care interventions on an on-going basis.
  • Documents all required information in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner, such as patient care changes and updating plan of care.
  • Coordinates, orders, and meets multiple patients’ needs and requests within acceptable time frame by managing workflow utilizing team resources.
  • Monitors and ensures the quality of healthcare practices, such as the safe implementation of standards of care and accessing process improvement in a manner compliant with the Joint Commission and HIPAA requirements.
  • Delivers Quality care in an organized manner within the scope of practice.
  • Obtain competency to a minimal level of competency for interdepartmental cross-over in the event of a surge or crisis.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally (0-33%): reach across midline, crouching/squatting, stooping, stairs, carrying (0-20 lbs.).
  • Frequently (34-66%): standing, walking, sitting, change position, reaching, handling, pinching, lifting (0-20 lbs.), pushing/pulling (20-50 lbs.)
  • Continuously (67-100%): must be able to see clearly with corrective eyewear; must be able to hear clearly with assistance.
