Position Summary:
Discovery is looking for a talented and passionate Senior Scientist to join our dynamic R&D team. As a Senior Scientist, you will participate in the scientific direction and execution of product research and development projects for the preclinical business. A Day in the Life of a Senior Scientist at Discovery Life Sciences:
- Design, develop, and execute R&D projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Lead the execution of projects, including scheduling, and resource planning
- Review and interpret data; ensure scientific accuracy and integrity in final reports and conclusions
- Maintain accurate documentation and protocols throughout the project lifecycle
Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):
- PHD biology, toxicology, or a related field
- 2+ years of postdoctoral experience in pharmacology, toxicology or related science or significant study in the areas of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME), toxicity and disease modeling as they relate to hepatocyte biology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bring new innovative ideas and develop them into feasible concepts
- Design, develop, and execute R&D projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Lead the execution of projects, including scheduling, and resource planning
- Review and interpret data; ensure scientific accuracy and integrity in final reports and conclusions
- Represent product development during customer engagements on calls or conferences.
- Functionally mentoring junior scientific staff, providing guidance on technical execution, experimental design, and professional development
- Maintain laboratory operations supporting assigned projects, including procurement of supplies, equipment maintenance, and overall lab functionality
- Identify and resolve operational or scientific challenges independently; develop and implement effective solutions
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting established timelines and deliverables
- Drive innovation to reduce workload and costs, improve operational efficiency, and develop new products and services or scientific capabilities
- Coordinate with internal departments such as operations, bioanalytical, and services to ensure alignment on product development and workflow integration
- Maintain accurate documentation and protocols throughout the project lifecycle
- Use word processing, spreadsheet, statistical, presentation, and database software to support project execution and reporting
- Prioritize responsibilities to support project goals
- Exercise sound judgment in handling and protecting confidential and proprietary company information
- Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, including in customer-facing activities and cross-functional collaboration
- Establish and maintain professional, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues and external partners
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance, which is an essential function of the role
- Perform other related duties as assigned, which may occasionally fall outside the core scope of the position
Compensation and Benefits:
Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $90,000- $135,000. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience. Your annual salary is only one part of your total compensation package. Other benefits include:
