Salary: Starting at $53000 / annually – depending on education / experience

 

Job Summary

As a member of the Beechwood NeuroRehab Transdisciplinary Treatment Team, provides assessment, treatment, and consultation services to persons with Acquired Brain Injury and associated stakeholders to develop and implement cognitive strategies that improve a person’s performance in daily life activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Implements both standardized and neuro-functional situational assessments/evaluations to determine the strengths, weaknesses, learning strategies, potentials, and progress of the individuals served.
  • Conducts individual and/or group cognitive rehab therapy
  • Conducts client evaluation and implements treatment programs for individuals and groups in Cognitive Therapy and other Transdisciplinary services.
  • Develops customized, individual, internal and external cognitive compensatory strategies and learning techniques.
  • Utilizes assistive technology wherever possible in developing compensatory
  • Implements cognitive rehab therapy programs to focus on functional and adaptive living skills for the community re-integration of the individuals served.
  • Participates in development of novel treatment approaches and programs, including the use of assistive technology in rehabilitation.  Assists in the selection, procurement, and adaptation of adaptive/assistive equipment.
  • Formulates, monitors, and reviews goals and objectives and monthly progress data when working within the Transdisciplinary team (including data collection, progress notes and billing).
  • Establishes and coordinates with other Clinical Department Sections a structured therapeutic schedule for the individuals served on their caseload.
  • Consults with Beechwood’s NeuroRehab Transdisciplinary Treatment Teams, (PT, OT, SP, Neuropsychology, Medical & Nursing, Case Management, Vocational, Recreation Therapy, Life Skills, and Residential).
  • Inventories and orders therapeutic materials and equipment which are needed for instruction and training of the individuals served.
  • Provides In-Service training within the Clinical Department and the Beechwood NeuroRehab program.
  • Presents the Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy portion of the Beechwood NeuroRehab Initial Orientation Program for new employees.
  • Participates in clinical research, program evaluation, and program
  • Performs other duties as requested 
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a Human Services field- preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a Human Services field required
  • Certified Brain injury Specialist eligible
  • Certified Brain Injury Specialist (or working towards obtaining this certification) with training in Education and Special Education preferred
  • Will maintain certification and training as a Certified Brain Injury Specialist
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Act 33 clearance
  • Able to lift/transfer a minimum of 50
