- Develop relationships and gain deep knowledge of all vendors and manage agreements
- Provide insight into new vendors and new capabilities to support innovation
- Provide forecasts for vendors and internal customers on product volumes based on demand
- Manage optimal inventory levels across all products
- Produce Purchase Orders to vendors for goods on a calibrated schedule
- Control vendor expenses through ongoing price negotiations and competitive benchmarking
- Optimize cost of goods for all products and production timelines
- Identify margin enhancement and efficiency improvements to support the growth of Nulo
- Interface with FP&A on financial reporting relative to COGs
- Provide support and mentorship to the operations team and insights to the executive leadership team
- A highly motivated and energetic contributor with a strong business sense
- Comfortable with manufacturing, packaging, logistics, vendors, and navigating aggressive timelines
- A Wizard with spreadsheets, and experienced working with financial metrics, contract negotiations, and forecasting
- An adaptable player-coach who strikes the right balance between hands-on execution and strategic leadership
- Ideally, the position is intended for in-office at Nulo HQ. However, for the ideal candidate located in a strategic location a hybrid working relationship could be acceptable with a 3 days per week in-office, bi- or tri- weekly rotation program.
- Travel to vendor locations is anticipated to require 1 trip per month, expected at less than 25% of work time
- Formal education in business (BS, BA, or Agribusiness/AgriEconomics) is required
- 5+ years of experience in operations, supply chain management, and logistics for food, feed, or consumer goods
- Experience leading a team is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to forecast demand and navigate procurement of manufactured packaged goods.
- Education and (or) direct experience managing financial aspects of corporate entities, expense management or P&L experience beneficial.
- Graduate training at the master’s level in business or related field is a plus.
- Experience interfacing with or within the pet food industry is ideal.
- Experience with manufacturing, warehousing, and freight/logistics is important to the success of this position.
