Day to day you’ll …

• Delivery and Pick-up: Timely and accurate delivery of goods to designated locations, as well as efficiently picking up items from suppliers or customers.
• Load and unload goods onto the truck, ensuring that they are securely strapped in place to prevent damage during transit.
• Plan and organize daily delivery routes to optimize efficiency and meet customer delivery expectations.
• Provide exceptional customer service, including polite and professional interaction with clients during delivery drop-offs and pick-ups.
• Communication and Documentation: Effectively communicating with dispatchers, suppliers, customers, or warehouse personnel, while maintaining accurate records of deliveries, pickups, mileage, and fuel usage.
• Perform routine maintenance checks on the truck to ensure it remains in good working condition, reporting any mechanical issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring the safety of yourself, other road users, and the goods being transported.
• Hazard Identification and Response: Identifying and responding to potential hazards on the road, such as adverse weather conditions, accidents, or road closures, while taking appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
• Compliance with Regulations: Adhering to all applicable commercial driving regulations, including hours of service (HOS) regulations, weight restrictions, and state/federal transportation laws.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Taking responsibility for the vehicle, cargo, and adhering to company policies and procedures is crucial for a box truck driver's role. Conducting routine inspections and maintenance checks on the box truck, such as checking tire pressure, fluid levels, lights, and brakes, to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.

Training and Education

• While a high school diploma or GED is typically required for this role, we prioritize relevant work experience and a valid commercial driver's license. On-the-job training will be provided to familiarize the successful candidate with our specific procedures and equipment.

Work Experience

• Minimum of 3 years related work experience.
• Proven experience as a box truck driver or similar role, ideally within the delivery or logistics industry.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Strong knowledge of highways, and traffic patterns.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items, as required.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Safe driving skills: A box truck driver should have excellent driving skills, including the ability to operate and maneuver a large vehicle safely in various road and weather conditions.
• Knowledge of traffic regulations: They must have a thorough understanding of traffic rules and regulations to ensure compliance and prevent accidents.
• Time management: Good time management skills are crucial for a box truck driver to meet delivery deadlines and efficiently plan routes.
• Physical stamina and fitness: This job often requires loading and unloading cargo, which can be physically demanding. Therefore, having physical stamina and good overall fitness is important.
• Navigation skills: A box truck driver should be proficient in using GPS systems and maps, as well as have good knowledge of local roads and routes. Determining the most efficient and safe route to transport goods, considering factors like road conditions, traffic, and weight restrictions.
