Structural Trades Technician bei Fairfax County Public Schools

Required

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
• Two (2) years of experience in the structural maintenance trade.
• Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record.
• May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status.
• Knowledge and skills in the use of the methods, equipment, and tools pertinent to the structural maintenance trade.
• Knowledge of common hazards and necessary safety precautions.
• Knowledge of local, state, and national codes.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals.
• Capability to estimate time and material needs, determine when the repair is not economically practical, and perform routine tasks and arithmetical computations.
• Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.

Preferred

• Completion of an acceptable apprentice-level training program.

1. Performs maintenance and repair in various structural trade areas including painting, masonry, glazing, flooring, furniture repair, carpentry work, or other structural trade maintenance work.
2. Performs work at schools, centers, and administrative buildings or in a shop.
3. Drives a vehicle to and from locations and keeps the vehicle supplied with tools and materials.
4. Performs operator maintenance on the vehicle and keeps it in orderly condition.
5. Keeps records and makes reports of work accomplished and materials used.
6. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
