Role: Residential Support Worker (Casual)

Salary: £13.00 an hour 

Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire

Contract/Hours: CASUAL - hours to suit your work/life balance

A bit about the role:

Our Residential Support Workers create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthyand can reach their full potential.

About the service

Sycamore Short Breaks is situated in Banbury. In this warm and welcoming house, we provide residential short breaks that support children and young people with learning disabilities aged 5 to 18 with severe, profound, or multiple learning and/or physical disabilities who may have complex health care needs.

Sycamore supports young people to achieve their potential, have fun and make friends within a safe supportive environment.   This is an exciting, challenging and rewarding role with the opportunity to make a huge personal impact. 

The successful applicant will have a real opportunity to work as part of a team, who will improve the outcomes of children and young people by providing safe, stable, and loving homes for them to live and thrive in.

We will actively support you in your role and provide you with regular supervision / APR process and specialist training including a commitment to achieve Level 5, Leadership and Management qualification from our newly developed Professional Development Centre

Do you have a strong background in children's residential care? Are you focused and passionate about changing the lives of children and young people for the better?

How you'll help to create brighter futures

  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.
  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
  • Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
  • Being resilient in supporting the young people through challenging situations.

 

Let's talk about you, ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families.
  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting.
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.
  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years.
