Wage: $17–$20.00/hour + tips

At Bread Alone, our cafes are lively spaces where community matters and good food brings people together. We're looking for a dependable Prep Cook & Dishwasher to join our cafe crew in Rhinebeck.

In this role, you'll help prepare breakfast, lunch, and Grab & Go items, keep the kitchen organized, and dishes washed. Plus you’ll get to learn the ropes in a fast-paced café kitchen, where we serve food that keeps our community coming back!

Requirements

 What you’ll do

Prep Cook:

• Wash, chop, slice, and dice ingredients for our menu items.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Portion and package food items as directed.
• Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks.
• Ensure all food is prepared and stored according to food safety guidelines.
• Monitor inventory levels of prep items and communicate needs to the kitchen supervisor. 
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep stations and walk-in refrigerator.

Dishwashing:

• Use the dishwasher to clean dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Wash items by hand when necessary and put them away in the right places.
• Keep the dish area tidy and organized throughout the shift.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals.

General:

• Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment.
• Communicate effectively with all team members.
• Follow all cafe policies and procedures.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries as needed.
• Work with the team on daily tasks like restocking and cleaning and deep cleaning.
• Help clean the kitchen, including floors, counters, and surfaces daily. 
• Help clean dining room floors on closing shifts. 
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor or Cafe Manager.

What We’re Looking For

• Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train motivated individuals.
• You value and are comfortable in a diverse and inclusive workplace
• Comfortable being active and on your feet during shifts
• Ability to lift cafe supplies up to 50 lbs and work safely around equipment
• Commitment to maintaining excellent personal hygiene and food safety standards
• Willing to follow all applicable Good Manufacturing Practices which includes but are not limited to: Removing any visible or exposed piercings and body jewelry, personal accessories, false nails & refraining from heavy makeup at work
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
• You take responsibility for your own safety and contribute to a safe environment for others
• Flexibility to work a Friday-Monday schedule with an expectation to work consistently throughout the year which will include holidays and weekends
