The Transportation Specialist at Fresh Alliance plays a key role in coordinating freight operations, managing carrier relationships, and supporting transportation sales goals. Reporting to the Transportation and Logistics Manager, this position ensures accurate and timely shipment execution through close collaboration with transportation providers, vendors, and internal teams. Responsibilities include overseeing daily Transportation Management System (TMS) processes, maintaining the approved carrier portfolio, tracking and tracing loads, and driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. The Transportation Specialist also contributes to quality control efforts, including claims handling and compliance monitoring, while actively supporting sales initiatives to grow the distributor member network.

This candidate will work from our Suwanee, GA or Salinas, CA office with anticipated travel up to 2-3 times per year. This salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000. We are unable to offer work sponsorship for this role.

Your impact:
- Coordination with Transportation Providers
- Collaborate with transportation providers to ensure timely and accurate movement of shipments.
- Review purchase orders to guarantee order accuracy.
- Verify pickup and delivery information for all shipments.
- Track and trace loads to provide real-time updates.
- Management of Transportation Management System (TMS):
- Oversee and manage daily TMS Processes.
- Maintain and manage a portfolio of carriers withing the PA approved program.
- Communication:
- Engage in continual, tactical communication with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Channel Representatives).
- Ensure effective communication channels to address any transportation-related inquiries or issues.
- Process Development:
- Assist in the development of internal processes aimed at increasing productivity and operational efficiencies.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to streamline transportation-related workflows.
- Support for Transport Quality Activities:
- Support various Transport Quality activities, including handlining claims, monitoring EDI performance, and ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Sales Goal Achievement:
- Contribute to achieving quarterly sales goals by actively selling freight services to distributor members.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify and capitalize on opportunities for expanding the customer base.
About you:
- A completed bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience
- 2+ years’ work experience in logistics/transportation industry
- Entry level knowledge of MS Excel based tools; familiarity with Excel spreadsheets and ability to navigate and interpret data
- Experience in manufacturing, transportation, customer service, and/or distribution environments
- Data management & data quality control experience with experience pulling and analyzing large sets of data
- Demonstrated experience using data to drive root cause elimination and process improvement.
