About the Memory Care Activities Specialist: Under the supervision of the Life Enrichment Manager, plans and implements therapeutic, leisure, and recreational programs designed to provide activities that promote the health, well-being, and functional ability of residents of MAHOVA with a focus on our Memory Support Unit. This is a full-time, 32-hour per week position. Monday through Friday, plus an occasional weekend.
Qualifications of the Memory Care Activities Specialist:
- Five years’ experience in the application of therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities in a geriatric environment with a focus on dementia care preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an activities or health services-related field preferred. ADC or CTRS a plus.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License; CPR and First Aid certified

Responsibilities of the Memory Care Activities Specialist:
- Plans, organizes, evaluates, and delivers person-centered therapeutic activity programs focusing on our memory care unit, designed to meet the highest practical level of physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being for each individual resident.
- Collaborates with Life Enrichment Manager in planning and execution of all resident activities.
- Conducts initial activities assessments for admissions with a focus on residents’ life history and activity preferences.
- Supports completion of resident MDS assessments and tracks participation in a timely manner.
- Coordinates with Life Enrichment Manager to purchase items to conduct activities, and monitors budget items such as food, supplies, and contract services.
- Provides direction and modeling to assist staff in conducting person-centered activities for residents.
- Responsible for planning the monthly calendar in collaboration with the Life Enrichment Manager.
