Primary responsibility is to ensure the accuracy and compliance of all aspects of payroll, including the process for nonexempt and exempt payroll associated with new hires, tax information, benefit deductions, garnishments, child support withholding, etc. Counsel and assist in managing direct reports. Located in Troutman, NC, this position reports directly to the Payroll Manager and interacts with Accounting, Human Resources, Operations, and Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS ::- Review and input timecards manually and via electronic import into payroll software.
- Serve as the point person for the Workforce Management timekeeping system.
- Process all payroll components for weekly and biweekly payrolls in a timely manner.
- Assist employees, timekeepers, and supervisors with payroll issues and requests for payroll information on a regular basis.
- Research payroll issues/discrepancies, and processes necessary corrections.
- Comply with regulatory standards, policies and procedures of payroll.
- Prepare accounting transactions and documents, journal entries, and labor reports for monthly, quarterly, and yearly periods.
- Work effectively with a team, including collaborating with employees in other departments.
- Prepare tax payments and reports (federal, state, local and school district) for 3 FEINs accurately and timely.
- Provide backup support to the Payroll Specialist on all payroll processing.
- Balance weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly payrolls to ensure accurate W2 processing.
- Electronically submit files and payment for a variety of benefit plans.
- Supervise payroll processes and review hourly payrolls processed by the payroll team.
- 4+ years of payroll experience.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- CPP designation preferred (not required).
- Candidates must be proficient in Excel with filter and VLOOKUP experience.
- Familiarity and experience with payroll practices and procedures in an internal payroll environment.
- Experience processing payroll from beginning to end, including tax filings, new hire reporting, unemployment analysis, pretax deduction review and complying with regular rate of pay regulations.
- Knowledgeable of both Federal, State and Local tax laws, and employment laws.
- Ability to work and contribute input within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Kronos Workforce or Workforce Management Timekeeper experience a plus.
- Ability to adapt to new software.
- Able to handle high level of confidentiality regarding employee information.
- Self-motivated professional with a focus on customer service.
- UKG experience.
- Able to maintain a positive and professional demeanor within a fast-paced environment.
