Rubber Duck Operative (Sizewell C)

Main Duties:
- Operate a wheeled excavator ("rubber duck") to carry out excavation, trenching, grading, and material handling as directed.
- Work safely around live utilities, roadways, and other sensitive environments.
- Conduct daily checks and pre-start inspections on the machine to ensure it is safe and operational.
- Follow job-specific plans, drawings, and markings with precision and care.
- Move safely between work zones, including driving the machine on public roads (if licensed to do so).
- Use various attachments such as buckets, grabs, breakers, or forks depending on the task.
- Communicate effectively with ground workers, banksmen, and other plant operatives to coordinate operations.
- Maintain a clean and tidy machine and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
Requirements:
- Valid Wheeled Excavator Operator certification (e.g. CPCS/NPORS).
- Street Works (NRSWA) certification may be required for highway work.
- Full UK driving licence (essential for driving machine on public roads).
- Lifting operations endorsement (desirable, if lifting work is involved).
- Previous experience operating wheeled excavators on live construction or roadworks sites (1yr + preferred).
- Skilled in operating wheeled excavators safely in tight and live traffic environments.
- Ability to dig around utilities and in sensitive areas with high precision.
- Good spatial awareness and hazard perception.
- Strong communication and coordination with site teams.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Awareness of HSE regulations and a safety-first mindset.
