The Murex Technology team is part of the EMEA Trading Platforms team that provides a full IT service to all areas of the MUSI business, including Finance, Operations, Front Office and other Technology stakeholders across the Murex platform.  The role of the Murex Development team is to maintain and develop the Murex application used across multiple MUFG entities.  The team will ensure all medium term development requests from various stakeholders are managed

NUMBER OF DIRECT REPORTS

Management of an application development team, with approximately 5 developers as direct reports.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

The Murex Development Team Lead role is responsible for the day to day operations and delivery of small enhancements to the Murex application. The team forms part of Business as Usual activities and is thus funded as such.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with business and Technology stakeholders to agree priorities across business streams.
  • Assigning development resources to meet development demands from stakeholders.
  • Review of all incoming development requests to ensure sufficient context and requirements have been provided for a developer to work on the request.
  • Tracking and communicating on development progress, ensuring that stakeholders are kept informed.
  • Management Information reporting on progress against the agreed developments.
  • Ensure the team is fully resourced, and that the resources are appropriate to the development role.
  • Personal development of team resources and review / maintenance of team procedures to promote team growth and efficiencies where possible.
  • Work with the Murex BAU and Murex FO support teams to ensure a consistent and manageable delivery framework across support areas.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven track record in leading and managing a development team servicing FO, PRO, OPS, FIN and IDM across International regions. 
  • Highly Proficient understanding of derivative products, booking methodologies, lifecycle events and product features across different asset classes particularly rates, credit, equity and FX derivatives.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Murex application
  • Have a strong understanding of the function of the 2nd line support teams and how the Murex development team can assist when required.
  • Detailed understanding of front to back operation and support of Sales & Trading activity, including delivery of critical data Market Risk (sensitivities), Credit Risk (counterparty exposure), Product Control (valuation) and Operations (Reconciliations, Confirmations and Settlements)
  • Excellent understanding of system interfacing, including knowledge of JMS, MQ, JSON & XML.  Experience in interfacing electronic platforms and back office systems including vendor of Murex application
  • Operating knowledge of regulatory reporting obligations, including jurisdictions such as Dodd Frank, EMIR, MIFID, Uncleared Margin

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Evidence strong leadership qualities and ability to inspire and evangelize change.
  • 5+ years’ SME experience on the Murex platform providing front line support to traders, end-to-end management of small to medium development initiatives, managing sustainable change and leading a distributed development team to deliver an international platform.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to influence decision-making process and build consensus. Ability to demonstrate strong and independent decision making skills.
  • Have a proven ability to develop and promote talent and bolster the abilities of team members through feedback and guidance
  • Embody a strategic approach to delivery, with the ability to articulate and implement vision/strategy.
  • SLA & results driven, with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Ability to operate well under pressure, with urgency and prioritise work deliverables accordingly.
  • Effective conflict management with ability to de-escalate disagreements and orchestrate resolutions.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
