We are looking for an inspiring people leader with a strong technical background in software development. The Engineering Manager in Development Services will be responsible for building complex, high-scale, real-time systems. You’ll collaborate closely with other parts of the business like Tech, QA, Player Support, Audio, and Globalization. You will have to work with a team of engineers, managing their tech workload and duties while playing an integral role in finding, retaining and developing the best talent. 

Your role within our Kingdom

You’ll support the team to ensure timely delivery of solutions to business needs while advocating modern, agile practices and developing a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company’s values. You will work closely with your engineers, collaborating on technical discussions, architecture decisions, and delivery approaches. You will also be an active part of the engineering management community and collaborate with the product organization.

Expected core activities:

• Build and manage a team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development

• Work with the recruiting team to attract, onboard, and retain diverse top talent

• Work closely with the team, product manager, QA specialist, and other stakeholders to ensure we deliver high-quality new features

• Empower the team in their delivery of technical solutions to address business needs

• Advocate and promote modern, agile software development practices

• Help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices

• Grow and embody a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values

• Actively collaborate with the team and other leaders across the organization

• Drive innovation in the team

• Grow the technical expertise in the team

• Establish and advocate best quality practices across the organization

• Accountable for the execution of the team

Our ideal Engineering Manager is deeply passionate about software development — from lifecycles and products to the craft of building great systems — and about what technology can do for our different business areas and King players. You thrive when developing great people while staying close to the technology, not just managing from a distance. Key skills include:

• Solid experience managing tech teams, and successfully solving many of the tough organizational challenges that follow. You will be comfortable leading teams of 8-15 people.

• Ability to inspire, grow, and lead a team to high performance standards.

• Ability to steer to consensus, balancing between stakeholder approval and forward momentum.

• You have experience building meaningful products. You focus on achieving meaningful outcomes rather than just delivering outputs.

• You bring strong technical knowledge and are comfortable engaging deeply with engineers — whether in code reviews, system design, or discussing trade-offs. You don’t need to be the primary coder, but you can understand technical challenges at depth and help the team navigate them.

• You demonstrate strong verbal/written communication, mentoring, feedback and interpersonal skills.

Bonus Points

• Hands-on programming knowledge (e.g., Java, C++, Python)

• Experience with build engineering and DevOps principles

• Understanding of mobile platforms and app stores
