We are looking for a STEM Content Specialist in Toxicology to join our Systems Biology team. This is an amazing opportunity to work on MetaBase database supporting several products and services across Clarivate. The team consists of 15 people across Spain and India (Chennai and Hyderabad), and this role reports to the Systems Biology Team Manager. We have a great skill set in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, toxicology, and pharmacology, with complementary skill sets to address challenges in biomarker discovery, target identification, drug repositioning, and network biology. About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments  

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or any life sciences-related disciplines, and a Master's or PhD laboratory research experience in Toxicology/ Pharmacology or a related discipline
  • Familiar with chemical properties, biological systems, and how substances interact with living organisms
  • Background in toxicological research (design and perform experiments, analyze data, and interpret results)
  • Background in cellular and molecular biology processes, with basic knowledge in pathology.
  • Good scientific research and analytical skills, with attention to detail. High ability to interpret and explain a large amount of data.
  • General computer proficiency (MS Office) and ability to quickly learn new software tools.

It would be great if you also had . . .  

  • Experience in databases and relationship models.
  • Artificial Intelligence skills at user/ prompter level
  • Knowledge in SQL, R, and/or Python is a plus.
  • Managerial skills to define and maintain priorities
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of diverse collaborators.

What will you be doing in this role? 

  • Deep analysis of the scientific literature to define the adverse effects of chemicals on living organisms
  • Act as a Toxicology expert within the department and guide colleagues on how to interpret scientific literature and other sources of scientific information.
  • Take initiative by raising, discussing, and resolving subject matter and production issues.
  • Use scientific expertise to verify the work of colleagues and external contributors for accuracy and completeness, and ensure that the information is properly presented and organized in our Systems Biology database.
  • Supporting automated workflows and identifying improvement opportunities across different Systems Biology processes, particularly Toxicology.
  • Use SQL queries to identify and correct database errors automatically based on Editorial policies.
  • Maintain and develop scientific knowledge and skills training as required to complete work and stay current on scientific trends and developments related to the employee’s editorial responsibilities.

Hours of Work  

This role is 40hrs/week, reduced to 35hrs during summer, EU hours on a Permanent Contract. This position would be Hybrid going 2-3 days per week to the Barcelona office (next to Sagrada Familia), and going more days is optional
