The Forklift Operator / Checker is responsible for safely operating forklifts to load, unload, move, and stack products as part of the shipping and receiving process. This role also includes checking incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with documentation. Work is performed in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment, including coolers and freezers.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate stand-up forklifts to move pallets and materials within the facility
· Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper handling of products and secure placement
· Check incoming shipments for correct product, quantity, and condition
· Verify outbound shipments match pick tickets, load sheets, or shipping documentation
· Tag and record damaged or missing items and report discrepancies to supervisor
· Ensure accuracy of inventory movement in and out of storage areas
· Assist in staging pallets for outbound shipments and organizing inbound product
· Maintain clean and organized shipping/receiving areas
· Follow all safety and PPE protocols, especially in cold storage environments
· Complete paperwork and electronic logs accurately and on time
· Perform any additional duties assigned by leadership
· High school diploma or GED preferred
· Minimum 1 year of forklift operating experience in a warehouse or distribution center
· Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
· Strong attention to detail with ability to read and match documents (BOLs, packing lists, etc.)
· Familiarity with warehouse inventory systems and handheld scanners is a plu
