Position Overview
Performs the following in an accurate, timely manner: performs vascular lab studies; prepares proper documentation of studies rendered; provides reports; and rotates through multiple locations. Demonstrates effective customer service skills and a professional manner. Adheres to practice mission and values and applicable regulations.
Supervision Received
Reports directly to the Vascular Ultrasound Technical Director and respective Office Manager.
Associated Requirements
The following requirements are essential to this position:
· Evidence of credentials for registered vascular technologist, or proof of being RVT eligible. If not an RVT but eligible, employee will have 1 year to successfully pass the required exam for credentials required to maintain employment
· Maintains current credentials along with required CME documentation
· Certificate of completion from accredited school of ultrasound
· CPR certification and annual or required renewal
· Experience working with computer applications
· Knowledge of business office procedures
· Working knowledge of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
· Knowledge of principles for providing customer service
· Ability to operate computers and other office equipment including photocopier and printer
· Ability to handle the following physical requirements: sitting for long periods of time; stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies; occasional lifting of files or paper weighing up to 30 lbs.; manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type at 60 wpm; using a computer screen for long periods; keep up with assignments in a high volume environment with many interruptions
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
· Reports in a timely manner, to a manager, if having difficulty in performing these duties as described.
· Adheres to all policies and procedures and applicable regulations in performing these duties.
· Functions as an effective team member.
· Attends staff meetings.
· Consistently demonstrates a commitment to customer service, the practice’s mission and values, and a professional manner.
· Participates in rotation schedule, multiple locations.
· Partners with VSA physicians in presenting vascular lab conference when scheduled.
· Versed in all aspects of the vascular lab related to studies, data input, scheduler, and patient follow up.
· Maintains proper records of studies completed in the vascular lab on a daily basis. Responsible for providing the most current information when assessing the patient and input of patient data in requested format.
· Assures proper insurance authorization is obtained, and a patient Rx that denotes diagnosis and study requested on patients referred to the vascular lab.
· Provides preliminary reports and/or phone reports as outlined in Policy and Procedure Manual.
· Provides ongoing patient education and distribution of patient educational pamphlets.
· In the case of a lower extremity arterial exam that requires treadmill component, determines through patient’s cardiac history and current symptoms, any inability to ambulate on the treadmill when requested by a physician.
· Assists in ongoing quality assurance and review
· Attends educational courses, and participates in ongoing CME opportunities that pertain to non-invasive vascular testing and techniques.
· Re-stocks and maintains exam rooms as needed, along with communicating equipment malfunctions and needs.
· Assists physician in patient exams when necessary and assists in dressing of wounds when needed.
· Technologist will be evaluated by Technical Director regarding abilities related to wound care and Unna boot application.
· Performs any other duties as assigned.
