The Details:
In-Office Requirements: This role requires up to 10% presence at our Downtown Seattle headquarters. Standard business hours Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Remote Work Eligibility: For employees residing outside of the Seattle metropolitan area, remote work may be considered in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, ID, FL, OR, TN, VA. Final approval is determined through a management review process.

About the Position:
Reporting to the Managing Director of Benefit Operations, the Director of Operations is accountable for developing a comprehensive operational strategy that will improve quality and value of plan services and equitable access to benefits information for plan members. The Director will ensure smooth operations of third-party benefit administrator including oversight of eligibility, enrollment, revenue collection and plan administration. Success in this position will require close collaboration with partners, contractors, vendors, participating employers, SEIU 775 and other internal and external stakeholders.
You Will:
- Design and execute an operations strategy that pushes the status quo and improves benefit delivery. The strategy will align with organizational strategic priorities;
- Develop and supervise a team that manages our outsourced vendor relationships with our Third-Party Benefit Administrators,
- Be able to think strategically while also providing leadership, project management, coordination and implementation support related to key program initiatives involving internal and external contributors, stakeholders and partners;
- Develop, execute, and manage comprehensive department budgets;
- Utilize plan metrics to identify trends and opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure benefit operations support the delivery of quality services, provide sufficient access to care, and meet the needs of workers;
- Develop, enhance, and maintain department standard operating policies, processes, and practices;
- Develop tools to measure the value, access, and quality of services provided to plan participants.
- Oversee and report transparently to the Benefits Group’s boards, key aspects impacting this business segment including but not limited to operations, income, expenses and product strategies;
- From time-to-time be assigned other duties commensurate with the level of this position.=

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in healthcare or retirement plan administration;
- 5-8+ years of experience leading healthcare initiatives or benefits administration;
- 5+ years of experience in operations and/or project management;
- Demonstrated track record of managing and developing teams equitably;
- Demonstrated track record of moving projects from concept to evaluation phase;
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complex implementations:
- Strategic agility in problem solving using analytics, experience, and judgement;
- The ability to negotiate with stakeholders and vendors;
- The ability the thrive in a fast paced, autonomous and ambiguous environment;
- Proven technology skills and fast adoption of new technology;
- Excellent communication skills including presentation skills.
It Will Be Great if You Have:
- Experience working with Taft Hartley trusts;
- Experience working with a Board of Trustee;
- Experience with retirement plan administration;
- Experience with self-funded insurance plan administration;
- Familiarity with ERISA rules and regulations.
Salary Range:
- $117,172.77 to $159,694.46
