About the Department
This position performs functions related to the processing of new employees with scheduling appointments for physical exams, polygraph exams, psychological exams, and interview, etc. Assists in other clerical functions as necessary.
Position Duties
A. Abide by the "Law Enforcement Code of Ethics."
B. Assist in maintaining employee personnel files as required.
C. Type letters and process other correspondence as necessary.
D. Assist employees when questions arise relating to compilation of their time, insurance claims, Police Standards certification, Division of Retirement, job injuries, and so on.
E. Track, gather and submit required documentation to substantiate policy compliance for accreditation purposes.
F. Consolidates files for year storage as per state law retention schedule.
G. Redact and copy personnel files in compliance with the Public Records laws when requested and/or subpoenaed.
H. Prepare files of terminated employees for retention according to state retention laws and retrieve requested files from the storage warehouse when requested for copying, review, etc.
I. Operate Agency equipment to photograph and issue ID cards to employees, volunteers and affiliated groups.
J. Be alert for conditions or situations which inhibit efficient operation of the Agency or the Human Resources Division, and make recommendations for solutions.
K. Perform other related duties, as assigned, including modified schedule or temporary re-assignment during declared emergency or activations, as determined by the Sheriff.
Minimum Qualifications
JOB PREREQUISITES:
High School Diploma or GED
Type at least 35 words per minute accurately
Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision
Ability to work harmoniously with the public and agency personnel
Ability to handle confidential matters without compromising confidentiality
Ability to perform general office skills and organize own work
Ability to act independently while using good judgment
Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English
Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license
Other Qualifications
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment. A portion of time is spent in data entry at a computer screen. Normal daytime office hours, but may be required to work overtime when needed.

Physical and dexterity requirements: Requires light work that involves walking or standing, exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force on a recurring basis; requires the ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time, the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to ten (10) pounds; routine keyboarding operations.
Environmental hazards: This job risks exposure to office related dust and fumes.
Sensory requirements: This job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and speaking.
