The Counsel position is responsible for overseeing and managing a wide range of legal affairs across the Las Vegas Raiders organization and Allegiant Stadium including sponsorships, retail, real estate, employment law, intellectual property, litigation, ticketing, and commercial vendor contracts. This position requires a deep understanding of sports law, corporate/commercial transactions, contract negotiation, compliance, and risk management. The Counsel position reports directly to the SVP, Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel and works closely with various business departments to ensure that the team complies with NFL requirements, operates within the boundaries of the law, and maintains its integrity.

Essential Job Functions:
- Provide strategic advice and direction on day-to-day legal matters and matters of risk.
- Work closely with individual business departments, the NFL, and all related entities to anticipate, identify, and manage liability, legal exposure, and risk.
- Research a variety of legal issues and provide clear, concise, and timely advice and recommendations.
- Ensure the organization’s compliance with NFL Policies, including policies on sponsorships, gambling, advertising, social media, and licensing and consumer products.
- Draft, review, and negotiate all varieties of legal documents including but not limited to sponsorship agreements, ticket and suite licenses, leases, project development agreements, event agreements, broadcast agreements, employment agreements, appearance agreements, waiver and indemnity agreements, and corporate filings.
- Advise the organization on strategies for protecting team and stadium intellectual property.
- Manage relationships with insurance brokers, advisors, underwriters and other third-party administrators, identifying exposure, handling claims, recommending solutions, implementing approved programs, updating and monitoring compliance with insurance procedures and other risk management practices.
- Advise on legal matters related to stadium operations, including ticketed and private events, vendor contracts, oversight of tour programs, compliance with stadium authority requirements, and risk management protocols.
- Advise the organization on employment law matters, including employee discipline, workplace investigations, hiring personnel, privacy concerns, unemployment compensation claims, wage and hour issues, and employment policies and the organization handbook.
- Provide general legal support to a variety of customer-facing business departments including Premium Hospitality and Suite Service, Premium Sales, and Ticket and Sales Operations.
- Provide general legal support on all matters regarding information technology, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, and review and negotiate SaaS agreements and other software license agreements.
- Ensure the organization’s compliance with federal and state regulations, including data privacy and HIPAA regulations.
- Manage and oversee the organization’s workers’ compensation case portfolio, including supervising outside counsel in the defense of claims and advising the organization on minimizing risk.
- Manage outside counsel relationships, including selection and engagement, and ensure cost-effective spend.
- Support the other members of the Legal Department with respect to its internal functions, including document management, budget management, and information tracking.
- Other duties as assigned by the SVP, Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from well-regarded institutions.
- At least five (5) years of legal work experience with a focus on sports law with a strong preference for in-house experience at a professional sports team or league.
- Must be licensed in the State of Nevada or be a member in good standing of the state bar in another U.S. jurisdiction with the ability to qualify for admission as in-house Counsel in Nevada.
- Proven experience negotiating a variety of contracts, commercial agreements, and other legal documents.
- Prior knowledge of navigating professional sports league regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and relevant legal precedents with a preference for NFL experience.
- Strong business acumen and successful track record serving as a key operational business partner with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
- A broad-based legal background with the ability to handle a wide range of matters including commercial transactions, sponsorship agreements, litigation, and arbitration.
- The ability to identify and analyze complex legal issues and provide solutions and strategies in the best interests of the organization.
- The ability to manage change effectively, deal well with ambiguity, and adapt quickly in a nimble environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle a large volume of work product under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with various business groups while demonstrating responsiveness, accountability, and integrity.
- Exceptional drafting skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence and humility.
- Ability to work extended hours and flexible schedule including nights and weekends as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Word redline, compare, and other contract editing capabilities.
- Familiarity with contract management and legal department management tools with a preference for prior experience using IntelAgree.
Physical Aspects of Position (includes but are not limited to):
- Sitting for long periods of time throughout shift
