Description

This role is essential for maintaining the flow of commodities, supporting trade operations, and contributing to the overall supply chain. As a Barge Loader, you will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that require keen attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a strong understanding of loading procedures. Whether you're directing the safe loading and unloading of cargo, conducting equipment inspections, or coordinating with various team members and harbor authorities, every duty you perform is vital to the seamless operation of marine logistics. To excel in this position, you will need a combination of physical stamina, technical proficiency, and excellent communication skills. 


 

  • Operate loading and unloading equipment such as cranes and conveyor belts.
  • Monitor the weight and balance of cargo to ensure safe loading practices.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Communicate with boat captains, dock workers, and customers to coordinate loading processes.
  • Secure cargo using various methods to prevent damage during transport.
  • Follow safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Record and document the types and quantities of materials loaded and unloaded.
  • Assist in the inspection of barges before and after loading operations.
  • Handle hazardous materials according to safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the barge and dock.
Requirements

 

  • Previous experience in barge loading or a similar industrial role, preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with maritime safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and customers.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials.
  • Basic math skills for calculating weights and balances.
  • Ability to operate loading and unloading equipment safely.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
