The Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the enrollment and administration of all benefits for various employee groups including Corporate, Non-SCA, Service Contract Act (SCA) and CBA employees. The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, detailed oriented environment is essential.
This is a full-time hourly/non-exempt position.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Ensures the accuracy of all employee benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
- Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork including medical, disability and FMLA
- Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
- Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
- Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility
- Enrolls employees with insurance carriers and processes life status changes
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to eligibility, enrollment, vesting, plan changes and contribution amounts
- Communicates with insurance and 401(k) plan vendors on a regular basis
- Responsible for yearly communication and notification of open enrollment process
- Assists with annual 401(k) and Health & Welfare Trust audits
- Gathers/maintains information to assist with accurate preparation of Form 1095C
- Assist with other duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations including filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, Social Security, and DOL requirements.
- 5 years of recent experience in a benefits administration position.
