We are currently recruiting a Vegetation Technical Officer to join our team in Wagga or surrounding depots. This role reports to the Senior Program Supervisor Vegetation and plays a critical role in supporting the execution and management of vegetation-related activities across Essential Energy’s network.

The Vegetation Technical Officer provides technical and operational support to internal teams and external stakeholders, coordinates network access requests, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. This role is key to facilitating efficient delivery of vegetation programs and managing complex customer and stakeholder interactions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prepare Network Access Requests and schedule network outages
  • Provide advice on network design inquiries including upgrades and SAPS installations
  • Prepare and execute Notice of Entry procedures and liaise with relevant authorities
  • Engage with plantation owners and stakeholders to ensure safe access and planning
  • Support third-party requests including rail applications and NPWS engagements
  • Assist in resolving escalated customer complaints and complex issues
  • Conduct audits of vegetation inspections and treatments to ensure compliance
  • Coordinate site activities during planned/unplanned events
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with Essential Energy’s Code of Conduct

 

About You

As a Vegetation Technical Officer, you will bring strong arboricultural and network knowledge, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will be confident working independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.

 

Required Qualifications/Skills

Mandatory:

  • Certificate IV in Business or equivalent experience
  • Certificate III in Arboriculture or demonstrated capability through previous employment 
  • Driver’s Licence
  • General Construction Induction Training (White Card)
  • Maintenance of all required licences and authorisations

Experience:

  • Utility vegetation management and arboriculture practices
  • Understanding of electricity distribution networks and standards
  • Experience with ICT systems and mobile devices
  • Delivery of planned maintenance programs with contractors and internal teams
  • Customer and stakeholder engagement
  • Safety leadership and compliance

Skills:

  • Contractor and stakeholder management
  • Influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication
