Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.  

 

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security. 

 

We currently have an opportunity for a Configuration Manager in Canberra to work on Space projects.   

What You’ll Do 

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: 
 

  • Operate under the direction of the SATCOM SPO Chief Engineer to deliver all contract tasks and outputs in accordance with CASG engineering and technical procedures. 

  • Develop CM System requirements through investigation of CASG processes, TRF standards, interface needs, and Defence-wide configuration management trends. 

  • Design and implement the CM System, including roles, responsibilities, processes, supporting documentation, and Objective Quality Evidence to ensure compliance. 

  • Plan and manage the transition of acquisition and sustainment projects to the new CM framework, ensuring alignment with SATCOM SPO standards. 

  • Deliver presentations and briefings to SATCOM SPO personnel to support adoption and integration of the CM System across relevant teams and projects. 

 
What You’ll Bring  
 

  • Demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining a Configuration Management System, with strong knowledge of configuration management principles, standards, and assessment frameworks. 

  • In-depth understanding of relevant Australian and International Standards, regulations, and Defence requirements applicable to configuration management. 

  • Proficient experience using the CMT-L tool to support configuration management activities. 

  • Proven ability to perform effectively as part of a project team, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Willingness to undertake training to address any skill gaps as agreed, with associated costs borne by the Contractor. 

 

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
