About You
The Research Assistant will undertake research activities in line with the University’s research strategy. It is expected that you will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
Proven hands-on experience in embedded systems development, including microcontroller programming, firmware design, and integration with hardware platforms.
Strong skills in both digital and analogue circuit design, from concept through to prototyping and validation.
Experience with development boards and PCB design tools, including schematic capture, layout design, and preparing files for manufacture.
Knowledge of FPGA development and hardware description languages such as SystemVerilog or VHDL, with experience in simulation, synthesis, and implementation considered highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality technical reports, design documentation, and project records to support engineering activities and ensure knowledge transfer.
Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams, with strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to manage multiple project tasks from design through to testing and delivery.
Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
