We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Team Lead – Projects & Overhauls to join our Power Operations team on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
Reporting to the Head of Power Services, this role provides leadership, governance and technical oversight across all projects and major overhauls nationally, ensuring consistent delivery to APA’s engineering standards, operational requirements, and safety expectations. The role will also lead and develop the Overhauls team, driving alignment and efficiency across APA’s power generation asset base.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to the national Projects & Overhauls team, ensuring capability, performance and development of team members.
- Lead the governance and end-to-end delivery framework of overhaul projects and capital works across all APA power generation sites, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements are consistently met.
- Provide senior technical oversight and input across all phases of overhaul and project scope development, planning, execution, and closeout.
- Ensure that all project and overhaul work meet APA’s engineering standards, operational requirements, and complies with regulatory obligations.
- Establish and maintain national processes, tools, and reporting frameworks to drive consistency and best practice across regions.
- Coordinate and oversee internal teams, contractors, and service providers to deliver outcomes in line with APA’s strategic objectives.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to align on project needs and expectations and training dependent upon project complexity.
- Monitor project progress, address risks, and adapt plans as necessary to ensure successful execution.
- Provide clear and timely reporting on national project and overhaul status, risks, and performance to senior leadership.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging lessons learned across projects to enhance APA’s overall delivery capability.
About You
- Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary projects and overhauls teams across multiple sites or regions within the energy, power generation, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Proven experience managing complex overhauls and shutdowns, particularly involving large rotating or mechanical equipment.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles and project delivery frameworks within heavy industrial, energy, or power generation environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially under time and operational pressures.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to engage, lead and influence cross-functional teams and external contractors. Experience working with large rotating equipment OEMs specifically advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to implement governance frameworks, standardise processes, and deliver outcomes across geographically dispersed teams.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and delivering results on time and on budget.
