Your New Role!
A Lecturer in Livestock Production Science (Level B) is expected to contribute to teaching and supervision, while actively developing scholarly research and professional expertise in the field. The teaching activities within the School of Agricultural Science include coordinating and preparing and delivering learning activities. The initial research will focus on various aspects of sheep production systems, such as improving ewe and lamb survival through better nutrition and lambing management, reducing stress during weaning, enhancing genetic resilience to environmental stressors and diseases, lowering methane emissions, and exploring grazing strategies for crops and new pastures. In addition to academic responsibilities, this role involves participating in a broad range of administrative and service activities in the College and across the University, and professional activities related to the discipline
A Senior Lecturer in Livestock Production Science (Level C) is expected to make a substantial contribution to teaching and student supervision, while actively developing scholarly research and professional expertise in the field. This includes leading teaching activities within the School of Agricultural Science, such as coordinating, preparing, delivering learning activities, as well as designing and reviewing the curriculum. This role requires a strong research focus on sheep production systems, demonstrated through high-quality publications and supervision of honours and higher degree research students. The initial research will involve leading projects on improving ewe and lamb survival through nutrition and lambing management, reducing stress during weaning, enhancing genetic resilience to environmental stressors and diseases, lowering methane emissions, and developing grazing strategies for crops and new pastures. Additionally, the Senior Lecturer will participate in a wide range of administrative and service activities in the College and across the University, and professional activities related to the discipline.

This Fixed Term (3 Years) with possibility of extension | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $111,026 – $131,518 for the Lecturer Level B and $135,609 - $156,097 for the Senior Lecturer (Level C) (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you’ll bring to the role:
- Completion of a PhD in Animal Science or similar field
- Demonstrated experience in teaching applied livestock production at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Demonstrated fundamental knowledge relating to specific projects relevant to the role
- Demonstrated success in generating high quality independent research outputs related to livestock production
- Demonstrated experience in managing different aspects of research projects including collecting, collating and statistically analysing data
- Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction only, exercise initiative in undertaking responsibilities and work effectively as team member
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary approaches to curriculum and pedagogy
- Demonstrated high levels of written and oral communication skills in English
Additional Requirements for Level C Position
- Demonstrated experience and success in unit coordination and curriculum design
- Demonstrated success in generating high quality independent research outputs related to livestock production with national recognition and a developing international profile
- A proven track record of success in securing external competitive research fundings and managing complex research projects.
- Demonstrated success in supervising honors, postgraduates and HDR students
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in working collaboratively within interdisciplinary and collegial team
