TITLE: GROUNDS WORKER II
JOB GOAL: Grounds Worker II incumbents perform semi-skilled gardening and grounds maintenance duties on school grounds and landscaped areas and involve specialized duties such as sports field maintenance, turf maintenance and repair.
REPORTS TO: Applicable Director/Principal/Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Any combination equivalent to: High School diploma or GED Certificate.
- 3 years of ground keeping or similar experience required.
- 5 years of ground keeping experience preferred.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to obtain Pesticide Application license with Category N3 and N20.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Perform gardening, pruning and grounds work on school grounds and landscaped areas.
- Operate power equipment, hand tools and snow removal equipment; make routine adjustments and repairs to equipment.
- Mix and apply herbicides and pesticides as directed.
- Sweep and paint parking lot areas.
- Repair and maintain fences for District-wide facilities.
- Assist in moving heavy equipment and portables.
- Maintain routine records as directed.
- Oversee and participate in playground equipment maintenance
- Assist in snow and ice removal.
- Repair, grade and resurface walks and driveways.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Acts in accordance with the by-laws and policies as set forth by the Owensboro Board of Education, KRS and KAR, and applicable Federal laws and regulations.
- Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Owensboro Public Schools.
- Clean, sweep, disinfect, and maintain artificial turf sports field.
- Mow, fertilize, and maintain softball and baseball fields.
