Salary Range:    $19.00 - $21.60 Hourly

Description

Join Our Team at Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant! We’re currently seeking a dedicated Full-Time Prep Cook to become part of our caring and mission-driven community. This position is 6am-2pm and has varying weekdays with every other weekend shifts. As a Prep Cook you will work in our community dining venues. This position is a vital part of our strong culinary team to provide the best service to our residents.

What You'll do as a LVMG Prep Cook:

  • Prepare dishes with basic ingredients and cooking preparations to order
  • Provide the highest quality of service to customers
  • Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving menu items.
  • Prepare food by operating a variety of kitchen utensils to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting, and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry, or fish for culinary use.
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
  • May be called upon to receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.
  • May be assigned in a venue requiring the preparation and cooking of food to order, including reading the order or taking verbal instructions on food required by the patron, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing of workstations and all equipment used according to regulatory rules and food safety processes.
  • Maintain all records and logs as required.
  • Provide culinary support for other dining functions as requested
  • Responsible for keeping all work areas and cooking equipment clean and orderly as well as keeping refrigerator and dry storage inventory rotated properly in all areas of the department

Hourly wage will be based on the candidate's qualifications including relevant years of experience and certifications/education.

Qualifications


You'll Use Your:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • 2 or more years of cooking experience
  • Knowledge of sanitation, safety and food handling techniques, rules and regulations as defined by local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Apply moderately complex technical skills appropriate for the position.
  • May adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to meet requirements of the position.
  • Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Serv-Safe Certification (if expired, recertification within 90 days of hire)
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
