Position Title:
Community Energy Advisor

Reporting To:
The Community Energy Advisor will report to the Director of Member Services, while maintaining close communication and collaboration with the Projects and Programs department.

Job Responsibilities:
The Community Energy Advisor will play a dual role, on the one hand serving in a member-facing capacity as a key point of contact, resource, and advisor for Community Power Aggregation (CPA) operations and initiations, and on the other hand supporting the team to conduct assessments, planning, development, and delivery of projects and programs.
The former role requires that the Community Energy Advisor has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage directly with Members and key account customers as a trusted expert.
The latter role requires that the Community Energy Advisor has strong technical and organizational skills and is equipped to use technology and analysis to support the team to develop and execute comprehensive plans for development and delivery of new programs and projects.
This position will assist member communities to develop and implement community-based energy plans, programs, and projects once they have launched and are operating a CPA.


Core Characteristics and Abilities:

  • Ability to engage directly with members, current and prospective, and customers as a trusted expert and advisor available to support members to achieve energy goals and objectives.
  • Highly organized; ability to use technology to organize and facilitate project management and create tools to improve organizational cohesion, collaboration, and project planning / tracking.
  • Ability to take initiative while collaborating closely with Member Services and Projects and Programs. 
  • Strong knowledge of municipal governments and or municipal/commercial energy planning and project management in New Hampshire
Responsibilities:
  1. Engagements with and energy advisory support for current and prospective Members
    1. Engage with Members and key account customers.
    2. Engage with prospective Members.
    3. Serve as the key contact for the Join, Plan, Ready, Launch process for CPA programs.
    4. Conduct outreach to local energy committees and local government staff to determine needs and interests (assessments).
    5. Serve as a point of contact and resource for Members and municipal and other key accounts acting as an “Operate Coach” for active CPAs.
  2. Support for planning, development, and delivery of Member Services and Programs & Projects:
    1. Organize assessment findings to inform planning for program and project development and deployment including assistance with developing local energy plans.
    2. Coordinate between Member Services and Projects and Programs Departments to support team to transform Member and customers assessments into actionable plan(s) for program and project development and to execute plan(s).
    3. Education and delivery of programs and projects to Membership and customers.
  3. Project Management, Analytics, and Systems Support:
    1. Support team to develop, build out, and manage company systems (e.g., Smartsheet) to streamline project management across departments, automate workflows, and build technology-based solutions for project and data management.
Qualifications:
  1. Excellent interpersonal skills, public speaking, professionalism, ability to present to Members and customers as trusted expert advisor and resource for program and energy needs.
  2. Experience executing the launch of multiphase programs.
  3. Planning and project management experience; experience managing energy assessments and projects with municipal and/or commercial scale customers.
  4. Ability to intake, organize, analyze, and present quantitative and qualitative data.
  5. At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
  6. Professional experience with an understanding of municipal governance and operations preferred.

Work Location:
This is a hybrid position based in Concord, New Hampshire, with required travel statewide and 1-2 office days per week.

Working Conditions:
Office environment with travel for board and committee meetings or events.
May require occasional evening work to accommodate Member-related meetings.
