Job Description

Assistant Manager of Diamond Operations

Overview

Coordinate the procurement, intake, and delivery of diamonds for all categories of business. Ensure continued supply of materials used in DY product. Develop strong vendor relationships with DY strategic partners and ensure on time delivery.

Its signature gold and silver designs; diamond, pearl, and gemstone jewelry; and Swiss-crafted timepieces are renowned for capturing the essence of relaxed American luxury.

Responsibilities

Diamond Supply

  • Work with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries of orders.
  • Track and follow up on samples for PD and Design.
  • Engage with suppliers to obtain availability and pricing for new projects.
  • Monitor changes in market pricing to provide visibility for risks/opportunities.
  • Assist with diamond quality control and provide guidance to diamond sorters to ensure accuracy.

Memo Calls

  • Navigate Rapaport Trading Network to search for diamonds for store memo calls.
  • Organize and send diamond information to the costing department. o Communicate with suppliers to call in diamond options.
  • Follow up on the status of memo calls and communicate back to the suppliers.
  • Assist in the diamond return process by preparing all paperwork. - Data/System functionality
  • Sku creation in PLM for serialized diamonds and parcels.
  • Systematically process diamond purchases in Oracle.
  • Maintain component log with updated supply strategies.
  • Enter purchase information in the Bridal and High Jewel logs.
  • Update pricing sheets on a quarterly basis and complete system updates.
  • Maintain and scan compliance paperwork. -

Diamond Room Operations

  • Communicate with the diamond team to prioritize daily tasks.
  • Maintain awareness of deadlines to ensure orders are filled on time.
  • Engage with suppliers to place replenishment orders as directed.
  • Maintain the diamond log to track, monitor, and update all open tasks and ongoing projects.
  • Develop and implement procedures to enhance team efficiency/ track team productivity to identify areas for improvement.
  • Track repairs, diamond testing results, and recertifications.
  • Audit invoices for required declarations.
  • Organize vendor onboarding documentation and traceability paperwork

Represent Diamond Department as needed in interdepartmental meetings. Special projects as directed by Management.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience working in Diamond purchasing
  • Ability to identify and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills- written and verbal
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel, ERP, PLM, Oracle
  • Build strong work relationships interdepartmentally
  • Proficient in operating specialized diamond testing technologies and specialized equipment

Education

  • Graduate Gemologist degree preferred
  • Two-four year college degree

Working mode: Hybrid (4 days/week in office, 1 remote) – Lyndhurst, NJ

Estimated salary range: $70,000-$77,000

Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
