Description
The Nurse Manager assumes administrative and clinical responsibilities necessary for the operation of (1) one or more assigned patient care units on a 24-hour basis. Assumes responsibility of House Supervisor on a rotating basis. He/she organizes, directs, prescribes, and delegates the delivery of nursing care; interprets and implements operational policies and procedures; coordinates unit services with other nursing areas and hospital services to achieve effective patient care; assesses, identifies, and evaluates needs of assigned units; plans and coordinates staffing needs and staff development; prepares and administer budget; assures environmental control and materials management. Considerable judgment, motivation, and creativity are required to manage assigned patient areas, and to interact with nursing staff, physicians, and patients to assure effective patient care. Work also involves observing the work of staff members to evaluate their job performance and to ensure an acceptable standard of nursing care. Nurse Manager also initiates staff meetings to discuss unit operations. Direction is required from the Director of Nursing, and performance is evaluated through observation, conferences, and reports as to performance on the job and the overall effectiveness of nursing care on the assigned areas of responsibilities. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Registered Nurse license in Tennessee. Three years experience as a Registered Nurse preferably with one year in a management position. BS degree required. Two years of psychiatric experience required.
Employee must obtain Basic Life support (BLS) Certification with 6 months of hire date and maintain continuous certification throughout their employment. Failure to maintain certification may result in corrective action.
Employee must obtain Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification within 9 months of hire date and maintain continuous certification throughout their employment. Failure to maintain certification may result in corrective action.
Employee must obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI Certification within 9 months of hire date and maintain continuous certification throughout their employment. Failure to maintain certification may result in corrective action.
