Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
Oversee the protection of the Scottish Rite for Children property, building, grounds, and personnel
Prevent security and safety incidents/accidents by conducting of patrols, inspections, and investigations
Respond to the security and safety needs of all Scottish Rite staff, patients, and visitors
Supervise the daily operation of the security shifts and other duties as assigned by the Director of Security
Supervise the assigned shift on a daily basis and other shifts when called upon
Assist in the selection, orientation, training, and evaluation of security staff
Review all officers' shift reports and report on all safety/security matters as necessary to the Director
Combine supervision and patrol
Be alert for security/safety violations by visitors, staff, and patients
Promptly respond to and deploy officers to emergency code conditions and security alarms
Be observant for fire and safety hazards
Check building doors after hours, ensuring that all doors are locked and the building is secure
Follow up on all reported complaints or violations
Assist and assign officers in the Security Command Center (SCC) for security/safety purposes and SCC relief
Conduct and maintain proper documentation of daily activity logs, incident reports, inspection forms, time cards, fire drills, and inspections
Effectively work with staff, peers, and director to ensure a harmonious relationship is maintained
Assist with security/safety issues in the absence of the Director of Security or Assistant Administrator/Director of Public Safety/Security
Organize work to maximize efficiency and to complete work on time
Perform productive activities consistently during work schedule
Required Skills/Abilities
Associate's degree required
Minimum 5 years of security, military, or law enforcement experience with some supervisory responsibilities required
Strong communication skills, both written and oral required
Must be able to work with computer and security monitoring systems
Ability to supervise department officers
