Job Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal facility performance.
- Ensure smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of a facility; Ensure a safety focused mindset on all aspects of the position.
- Provide support of preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic and pneumatic facility/equipment controls and responds to abnormal conditions and emergencies.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and upkeep of common areas and facility equipment.
- Improve technical expertise from senior team members and supervisor.
- Provides recommendations, advice and oversight on installation and modification of new systems.
- Assist with the training of junior personnel.
- Provide customer service to all personnel and patients/parents on campus.
- Maintain currency with utility systems such as steam, heating water, chilled water, compressed gases, HVAC, tube system, domestic water heating, etc. and be able to assist in troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Recognize and respond to critical system alarms such as freezers, refrigerators, incubators, cold and environmental rooms, data center temperature alarms.
- Communicate effectively in standard written and spoken English across communication platforms.
- Perform steam engineer duties required by the State-mandated Steam Boiler Monitoring Variance.
- Receive information from the Control Room Shift Engineer, respond appropriately, and report back status.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- High School diploma/ GED required.
- Technical School Diploma or Certification in related area preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- 2+ years of experience as a Shift Engineer or Boiler Operator, Maintenance Mechanic, A/C Refrigeration Mechanic or Maintenance Engineer in a Hospital or related environment or an Operator in a facility with rigorous conduct of operations requirements.
- Must have knowledge of design, construction, operation and maintenance of Boilers, Chillers and Cooling Towers.
- Experience with facilities management, technical maintenance or customer service.
- Experience with repair and maintenance of facilities related equipment.
- Experience in a campus/ multi-building or single, multi-story building environment, preferred.
- Basic proficiency in MS software and end-user proficiency in CMMS software.
- Working knowledge with computer maintenance management systems (CMMS)s, preferred.
- Working knowledge of building automation systems (BAS)s (e.g., Metasys), preferred; Good understanding of applicable building systems (e.g., steam, chilled water, compressed gases, heat exchangers, HVAC).
- Familiarity with campus building occupants, contractors, and consultants.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
- Steam Engineer First Class License from Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement required.
- Refrigeration Engineer First Class License from Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement required.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
- EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification preferred.

This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
