Summary
Cost Accountants specialize in the accounting of product costs recognized in cost of sales and inventory. Varex Imaging (VREX) operates manufacturing plants or service depots in the US, Central America, Europe, and Asia. Reporting to the Inventory Controller located at Salt Lake City, UT Corporate Headquarters, the Sr. Cost Accountant will work with a global team of Cost Accountants to support local and global business operations.Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Requiring an ability to be very detail oriented, this position manages Excess & Obsolescence with global operations teams, checks for stranded and orphaned inventory, performs schedules.
- Analyzes the cost of materials, labor, overheads, and other direct or indirect costs associated with products or services.
- Coordinates maintenance of standard cost data, and accounts for manufacturing variances, scrap, rework cost, excess & obsolescence, and product returns through direct engagement of our production teams and produces internal metrics to enhance understanding and establish action items to aid in the control of these costs.
- Interacts with departments and procedures within the cost accounting function to study and assist in recommending and implementing process improvements.
- Provides cost accounting support to global subsidiaries.
- May work with warranty, capitalized variances, material recovery, non-conformance, intercompany, wall to wall physical, cycle count reliance, and other related inventory matters.
- Assists with resolution of Intercompany and 3rd party (GRIR/RNV).
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, company policies, and industry regulations. Assist in internal and external audits related to cost accounting.
- Prepares month end and year end closing entries and reconciliations.
- Contributes to Internal Reporting through the creation and distribution of monthly reports.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

- Travel may be required occasionally, but not frequently.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
CMA or CPA preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Excel and all Microsoft products, experience with SAP preferred.
Innate systems thinker that collaborates across the organization to facilitate business process innovation and continuous improvement.
Ability to both identify issues and the self-motivation to research and implement solution to resolution.
Preferred Candidate will have 8 years of related experience or 6 years of related experience plus Master’s degree.

- Work environments includes: limited exposure to chemicals, electrical current, proximity to moving mechanical parts, repetitive hand motion, open flame, working from heights, cold environment, hot environment, uneven surface, fumes.
- Travel to sites occasionally is possibe. Valid driver’s license. (if need on job profile)
